Clay Centre

The clay centre is a space for students to develop their clay making abilities. They learn how to shape and join clay together. This centre has clay, clay tools, and glazes. Students learn how to make pinch pots, slab building techniques, and, for some, the coil building technique. They visit the kiln room and learn about the firing process. Students become aware of the five stages of clay through their experiences with this material. From the fresh 'elastic' stage, leather hard, bone dry, bisque ware, and finally, glaze ware.
